#AB1167 #SB24 both try to legislate an issue that’s been put to rest by previous legislatures. The California PUC disallows the use of consumer funds for political contributions & has the authority to determine if any advertising is safety-based and can be recovered in rates.

Thanks @Portantino & @SenToniAtkins for helping pass #SB1107 in 2016 to repeal ban on #PublicFinancing of campaigns! Please help ensure #SB24 by @SenatorUmberg & @BenAllenCA gets out of Appropriations to let voters vote to ratify the will of the legislature and repeal the ban.
Public financing is now banned everywhere in #CA except charter cities. #SB24 & #AB270 would both put a measure on the Nov 2024 ballot to let voters repeal the ban, requiring instead that public financing laws meet basic standards of fairness & where the money can come from.
