I've sensed a wry streak of humour in even @aptshadow.bsky.social's loftiest sci-fi novels, and this comes to the fore in #ServiceModel, a post-apocalyptic robot odyssey with shades of Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett. It's farcical, absurd, satirical, deeply philosophical and really good fun!

I consider Adrian Tchaikovsky's "Service Model" to be an excellent representation of the future of AI, at least the LLM version. The book’s robot is an advanced version of ELIZA, imprisoned within its own programming. It cannot violate its code without external intervention. #AI #ServiceModel #ELIZA
