#silentspring

Well, I guess I'm starting on day 22. #SilentSpring by #RachelCarson. I read it as a child and thought, "That could never happen.
But it did.
Now I'm re-reading it.

I am sitting here holding a (PB new) copy of #SilentSpring by #RachelCarson in my left hand. I haven't touched this book...and don't ask me why, it's been 30 years.
I hope it's the one where she talks about #tidepools. That really fascinated me.

What have we traded for wealth and greed?

A silent spring. Rivers that no longer run. Flowers that no longer bloom.

The bee is a canary in the coal mine for our entire ecosystem. Are we listening?

De titel – “Everything you always wanted to know about mass extinction but were afraid to ask…”

Status: We spray 4 million metric tons (the weight of 2 million cars) of broad-spectrum antibiotics like glyphosate all over Earth every year.

We don't understand what we are doing because we are all insane due to alienation from nature.
