Cast of new Netflix India series, Single Papa starring Kunal Kemmu.

#SinglePapa works wonderfully as an unexpected subversion of the 'man vs. baby' trope, through a main character with a kind heart, but unchallenged entitlement.

And the show is insanely hilarious, too!

Seeing #SinglePapa tackle single fatherhood with such "ordinariness" is a breath of fresh air. It doesn’t aim to polarize, but normalize. A quietly disarming series that is hilarious to boot.

I liked the depiction of parenthood in #SinglePapa. Specifically the writing.

Using words like SOULMATE & LOVE in non-romantic context. Khemu trying to describe how his new baby makes him feel w/out words like DUTY, but just joyful emotion alone.

It's small, but significant.

These days, I'm more impressed by what #Bollywood DOESN'T do in their movies and shows.

For example: There's like 4-5 different 'comedy' plot points that #SinglePapa could have done in their man-meets-baby trope, that just low hanging fruit.

So kudos to them for not being lazy.

Neha Dhupia in the Netflix Original Bollywood webseries, Single Papa, starring Kunal Khemu.

#SinglePapa reminded me how good #NehaDhupia is, and how much I miss her in movies.

She’s one of those actresses that #Bollywood definitely did dirty. And while it gives me great joy seeing her after all these years, I still wish she was appreciated more during her heyday.

What I love about modern-day #Bollywood family stories is how self-aware they seem. Like #SinglePapa.

How some writers find an plot points about the generation gap, but also creates space for those older characters to have an arc of their own. While still funny & heartwarming.

Don’t know if my comedic sensibilities are changing, but I went in w low expectations & came out loving every minute!

The whole thing is propped up on #KunalKhemu’s charming-ass shoulders. The show doesn’t work if you’re not invested in his growth.
