Two ceramic bottles glazed in beige/caramel and green. The bottle on the left has “hugs” written in black and the bottle on the right has “kisses” written in black but super difficult to read as the glaze ran more than expecting.
Messed up a bit but would be great if these things could also come in little bottles.

The first moiré mugs are glaze fired! Super happy with the black slip, I love the contrast. I tried both clear and matte clear glaze; evidently the matte didn’t work out well since it both doesn’t have as much contrast, and resulted in bloating. #pottery #slipcasting

Very pleased with my dark slip test, it got a lot darker in the cone 5 firing! The stuff I’m using for mugs now has 3x as much stain so hopefully the contrast is striking. Also, “matte clear” glaze lightens the color more than I expected, so I might play with non-matte too #pottery #slipcasting

bowl from last posts now with a wild pattern of white, soft pink, and baby blue of underglaze around the outside, divided into segments with deep carved lines

we played around a bit with some underglaze and carving. not entirely happy with the carving as it is a lot deeper than expected but the mudtools carving tools do cur really well.
underglaze will probably fire pretty translucent but we’ll see

leather hard bowl blank as pulled from the slip cast mold, held in one hand. it does not show any deformation
same bowl with the rim cleaned up sitting on it's foot
- our 2nd slip casting went a lot better
- dry mold
- 1 hour soak time
- solidifying in covered mold overnight
- it came out nice and leather hard, easy to handle but still workable

I had a big fail on my third section of this plaster mold yesterday. The piece was awkwardly positioned and I couldn’t see that the seam wasn’t fully sealed.
I managed to chip off the second layer of plaster so I might try to salvage the model and try again… #trialanderror #ceramics #slipcasting
