Mason (Tails) and Max (Ray) are sitting on a cliff. Mason decides to start a conversation. Mason: "So, how did you end up here?" Max, trying to remember everything that happened to him, finally responds. Max: "The strange thing is... I don't remember"
Max continues talking. Max: I just woke up, thinking I'm still dreaming or something, unaware of my true fate... The realisation came suddenly, when I met... Him..." A flashback with Geneside in his Dreamcast era form appears Max: "I will never ever forget him... His face with that wide smile full of sharp teeth... this terrifying, deep voice... this maniacal laugh..."
We see Max's corpse, laying in a puddle of his own blood. His neck was snapped by Geneside, yet his soul still allows his mind to work, so he just lays on the ground in pain and agony. Max continues the story: "...and the pain burning pain, the agony I felt. Being unable to move a single muscle, unable to even blink... Terrific, right?" Mason remembered his encounters with Geneside, completely changing his face. Mason: "yeah..." Max, however, continues: "But, now that I think about it..."
Max stood up, looking at the world before him. Max: "Maybe I'm going insane, but, this world... Despite trying to kill us... Mason... It's not that bad..." Mason, looking at him in shock mixed with the uneasy feeling he got after remembering about all his deaths and sufferings. Max: "So, maybe let's team up and explore it? Together!"
A small talk between Mason and Max.
