“You are the one who was a salamander? Beg you, be my wife!”
“I can’t. I’m a fairy…”
“The good fairy?”
“Yes, the good one.”

«Caliph Stork» (#Soyuzmultfilm, 1981), based on short story by Wilgelm Hauff, directed by Valery Ugarov, visual direction by Tamara & Vladimir Zuykov.

Honestly just overall fun and it doesn't take itself too seriously. They use some character names from treasure Island or at least similar names, so if you're familiar with the story you can get a rough idea of whats happening.

The jokes are a bit awkward but nothing that ruins the movie. The concept of a visual echo along with the audio echo was an interesting concept to use as a form of trickery.

It's a very distinct look and feel that is difficult to forget.

If you're interested in 1980s animation from Belarus #treasureplanet might be up your alley. And no, not that treasure planet you're thinking of, the other one, Планетата на съкровищата #sovietanimation #animation
