SCS Training With Tres Adames Begins March 10th Online The Spiritual Care Specialist Training offers a structured opportunity for those serving in care ministries to strengthen the skills needed to respond effectively to a wide variety of concerns. Many caregivers, whether in volunteer or professional roles, encounter situations involving addiction, mental health challenges, trauma, grief, and domestic violence. These issues often call for an understanding of behavioral health perspectives in order to provide care that is ethical, safe, and effective. This training, beginning March 10 and ending May 5, is designed to help participants integrate those perspectives with their existing approach to care. The program includes a total of 48 hours of learning and support. Phase 1 consists of 28 hours of self paced material that includes prerecorded lectures totaling 16 hours, along with 12 hours of assignments and personal reflection exercises. All materials are provided, and no additional books are required. Students can begin Phase 1 at any time before the live sessions begin and can access the content early when they register ahead of the start date. Phase 2 consists of 20 hours of live group instruction conducted on Zoom. These sessions meet weekly on Tuesdays from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM Eastern Time. Attendance at all sessions is required in order to complete the course and receive the certificate of completion. Participants will explore topics such as Images of Pastoral Care, Ethics, Listening in the Service of Healing, Spiritual Assessment, Marriage and Family, Substance Abuse and Addiction, Mental Health, Trauma, Domestic Violence, and Grief. The overall goal of the program is to support caregivers in providing more competent and confident care rooted in a deeper understanding of behavioral health. Registration is $600. A brief meeting with an instructor is required prior to receiving a registration code. Vveinhardt, J., Deikus, M. & Carey, L.B. A Model of Chaplaincy Assistance for Victims of Workplace Bullying: A Qualitative Study Exploring New Resources to Support a Healthy and Safe Work Environment in Lithuania. J Relig Health (2026). https://doi.org/10.1007/s10943-026-02590-w

This research aims to explore the inclusion of religion in the support system for employees experiencing workplace bullying through the activities of chaplains (both clergy and lay) and to create a contextualized model of chaplaincy for addressing workplace bullying. In this study, chaplains and spiritual assistants are seen as members of the ‘spiritual mission’ of healthcare institutions, responsible for providing pastoral and spiritual support to staff and patients. Workplace bullying causes not only emotional and psychological harm but can also result in deep spiritual problems that require targeted pastoral counselling, guidance, education and support to overcome. However, the organization of such assistance has been little studied to date. Seeking to fill this gap, an exploratory qualitative study was conducted. Applying the methodological approach of informed grounded theory, nine Catholic chaplains and lay spiritual assistants (n = 9) working in six hospitals (n = 6) were interviewed. The in-depth interview method was used. Thematic analysis of the interviewed data indicated that a liminal identity of chaplains and spiritual assistants formed between different religious and secular fields. Utilizing the identified themes a compiled three-layer model (of micro-, meso-, and macro-systems) was developed involving five interacting factors: (1) inter-institutional vacuum (of the Church and healthcare institutions); (2) instrumentalized symbolic capital of the chaplain; (3) the integrity of the spiritual mission; (4) pastoral response to workplace bullying; and (5) support of the religious community.
