Stalking isn’t about romance - it’s about control.
When someone ignores boundaries - that’s not love. It’s a violation of consent. This #StalkingAwarenessWeek, let’s be clear:
📍 Consent is about respecting space, silence and “no.”

Stalking is unwanted, focused behaviours carried out by one person, or persons, against another, causing fear and alarm. It may be that the acts themselves are not threatening or abusive, but the meaning and context may have significance and are causing you fear and alarm.
It can include: Standing outside someone’s home, work, school Unwanted or threatening phone calls, messages, letters or emails Sending unwanted gifts Threats against the person, their family, their pets Publishing private material online Damage to property Physical and/or sexual assault
Being stalked can leave you feeling alone and isolated. If the stalker is not violent or threatening, you may find that others do not take your concerns seriously or feel you are over-reacting. If you are being stalked, it is common to feel anxious, depressed, hypersensitive and fearful. These feelings can remain even after the stalking behaviour stops. It’s important to recognise that stalking has a similar impact as other forms of sexual violence.
You can get support from: Action Against Stalking Suzy Lamplugh Trust North, East and South Ayrshire Women's Aid The Scottish Women's Rights Centre.
Stalking is about control—not love.
It’s a pattern of obsessive, unwanted behaviour that causes distress, fear, and harm.
This #StalkingAwarenessWeek, we’re raising awareness and pointing people to support.
