Text: Why does this matter?

The updated federal tax credits expire at the end of 2025. Without federal action to extend these consumer cost-saving measures, state-based marketplaces anticipate premium increases, coverage losses, and added strain on providers and health systems due to a rise in uncompensated care.

Their Health is on the Line What a great policy, in principle, president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and premier Elijah Ngurare have decided on – that government employees should use state healthcare facilities. Perhaps for once they will start fixing the failing state clinics, hospitals and primary healthcare programmes when they know their own health is on the line. It is important to emphasise, however, that the motive for this policy decision should not be about destroying private healthcare institutions. Instead there should be deliberate collaboration. It is true that some private medical providers have overexploited the government medical aid for unjustified self-enrichment, and, in some cases, through fraud. The overarching goal should be to improve healthcare for all Namibians rather than kill services altogether. The post Their Health is on the Line appeared first on The Namibian.
