A screenshot of my first Steam community announcement. The pictured text reads as follows:
Notes about the demo
Addressing audio and display settings, difficulty settings, controller functionality and update installation
Hello everybody! For this very first announcement, there are some things you should know about the current state of the demo.
Updates:
I'm not sure how it happened, but the update queues have stopped showing up in the library. I now have to manually make announcements for when an update is available, and you will have to verify the game files to access said updates. This can be done by right-clicking the demo in your library, then clicking Properties>Installed files>Verify integrity of demo files, but that is a big pain in the neck for everyone involved. Rest assured, I am trying to make the updates show in the library again.
Controller functionality:
While the demo does support controllers for gameplay, only the mouse works for making menu selections. Bringing controller functionality to the menus is one of my top priorities and I'm currently working on making this happen
Difficulty settings:
I'm very pleased to share that the demo now contains an easier "Casual" mode alongside the originally intended highly challenging "Grim" mode. "Casual" differs from "Grim" in the following ways:
*More checkpoints
*Fewer falling platforms
*More static floating platforms
*Less enemies
*Generally easier obstacles overall
Audio and display settings:
Changing the resolution settings no longer results in a "pinched" looking logo in the title screen. Additionally, there are now sliders to adjust the levels for music and SFX. I don't think V-sync is working properly and addressing that is also on my list of priorities.
I will start posting progress reports for the main build going forward in addition to announcing updates to the demo. See you next time!
Made my first Steam community announcement last night. I believe this covers everything you would need to know about the current state of the demo. And yes, there is alt text for the pictured text!
