A massive well done & thanks to the 38 volunteers of all ages who came out in the beautiful sunshine to clear 69kgs of waste from #Stonehaven Beach this morning - loads of fishing line, textiles & plastics tangled in the seaweed & some large pieces. Brilliant!

It’s increasing & hard to reach safely. Here’s what I picked up today from part of the slip road into #Stonehaven - 14.2kgs!! Mostly cans & bottles, coffee cups, fast food packaging & sweetie wrappers.
Litter breeds litter. Good to remove it.

Amazing the difference it makes esp when it’s been gone for soooo looooong!! In #Stonehaven today it’s not only the Christmas tree spreading light & you can feel the difference- the smiles, folk stopping to chat

Today I finished clearing the bushes by the top car park of #Dunnottar Woods #Stonehaven of the last bottles & cans thrown further in. The flytipping’s still there despite being told it had been cleared.
I also removed 3 abandoned poo bags & a few wrappers. Another VERY wet day! #aberdeenshire
There have sadly been young birds found dead on #stonehaven beach
Today a young #puffin was found struggling but still alive. A huge thanks to Fiona & James who safely transported ‘Mr Puffles’ to #newarcwildliferescue where he’s being cared for. Here’s hoping he’s ok.🤞 #aberdeenshire #scotland

No surprise, it’s going to be WET but the tide will be out & it’s a great chance to clear some of the waste that’s been thrown up in the wild seas.
Any time you can spare would be fab!
#Stonehaven has taken a battering from the snow, rain & wind & many streets are a mess. I cleared a bag of bottles/cans by #DunnottarWoods then 8.4kgs of #litter incl recycling & 7 vapes.

The things that some folk thrown out of cars is just crazy - 3 full bags of pasta by the roadside thrown into Dunnottar Woods by #Stonehaven on a #dog walk yesterday! 3 bags of pasta!! Who does that??

Today our charity will be presented with the #KingsAwardforVoluntaryService at #Stonehaven Scout Hut at 2-4pm during #PlasticFreeStonehaven’s 'Crafting a Recycled Christmas' event. All welcome tho take care with the weather. Volunteers will grit & clear but ice may remain.

The centres at #Fraserburgh and #Macduff will be CLOSED
#Huntly vaccination centre will be running a childhood clinic ONLY.

We just stayed local today with a wander round the nearest parks in #Stonehaven. Still managed to pick up 2 bits of #litter, the only trouble was clearing the bin to put them in. 🙄 ⛄️
