Inspired by Revolutionary Songs & Michelle Orihel's piece on Toasting, I had students write toasts or song lyrics based on Patriots' or Loyalists' perspectives. They worked in groups & had 15 minutes but they were creative, referenced specific historical themes or events & had fun. #teachingwin

Had a great class discussion about What is Southern History this week.
Students prepared by completing 5-to-1 Reading Notes (5 things they learned, 4 sentence summary, 3 Outside Connections, 2 quotes, 1 question) so they all had prepared comments and thoughtful questions. #TeachingWin
