Diverse prey capture strategies in teleost larvae The evolution of hunting behavior in fish larvae has arrived at different, species-specific solutions, recombining a shared repertoire of locomotor and eye movement motifs.

Gene duplication in #teleost #fishes 🐟, ambiguous #exons in #lampreys, accessory peptides in the TAD and many more observations are in the paper. I hope this might contribute as an evolutionary framework to test new hypotheses on TADs function. (7/8)

Fig. 1 Methods for investigating how mucus changes boundary layer flows on fish skin. (A) Images of live bluegill ( L. macrochirus ) and Tilapia
( O. aureus ) demonstrating their mucus-cov er ed surfaces. Rectangles outlined on body are approximate locations where skin samples were
taken for hydrodynamic testing. (B) Top view schematic of the experimental setup where a piece of fresh fish skin was placed on a flat
plate in a flow tank, and a microscope lens and camera w er e organized to film boundary layer flows over the skin. (C) Photograph of the
flat plate with fresh skin and the microscope lens in the experimental setup. (D) Still images from videos of boundary layer flow over fish
skin with and without mucus. The many algal particles in the water, visible as small dark dots, allow flow to be tracked.
