Hey #booksky, I could use a few recommendations for #BlackHistoryMonth. I lined up 4 books: #stampedfromthebeginning, #thecoloroflaw, #freedomisaconstantstruggle, and #blackfortunes. Then I was injured walking my dog, so while on my ass I've gotten through almost 3 of them. I did not expect to -->
This was a very well layed out explanation of how intentionally segregated America was & why. And how its effects are still with us in housing, schools, businesses, public services and more. #thecoloroflaw #richardrothstein #booksky
It was not forced. States enabled locals to set their own zoning. Locals could have chosen density. Instead they locked things in place and pushed single family on larger and larger lots with no mixed use. Tragic. Locals need to own their racist and classist and tragic mistakes

Highly recommended reading. Will open your eyes on a few things you thought you knew what happened, but you were taught wrongly as was I.

Zoning ruined us. Low density forces 2x + the driving here than in Europe but sure blame cars that are only necessary due to the awful mandated land use policies came first requiring them…..
