What if we had a history month for us ? What if we had a family reunion and didnt invite yall ? Like all my momma ? We do not care because you already do that every single day. Everything in this country was built to center you. Every commercial, every textbook, every movie role, every meeting room, every neighbourhood line. Thats your month, your reunion, your celebration. You dont need to call it White History Month because the whole system was already written with you in mind. But the moment we grab a mic, a drum, a plate of food and say this ones for us, suddenly its a problem. Why does our joy bother you so much ? Why does our piece feel like youre threat ? We cant celebrate our history without being called devices. We cant honor freedom without someone asking if they can profit off it. We cant even hold a family gathering without somebody calling for supervision. What more do you want from us ? We were torn from our families, stripped of names, of language, of roots, And you still want to be invited to the cookout. We cant trace our lineage because it was sold off. We cant Celebrate family the same way because it was broken apart. So when we finally find some pieces, some rhythms and laughter, some way to put the pieces back together, just leave us alone. Let us dance those love each other out loud, let us rebuild. It was stolen because this right here, this is an exclusion. This is survival, share, believe, inspire, lax, be. I'm just gonna. There is an incredible amount of "dark money" coming billionaires; Koch, Ellison, Dunn, the Oil industry, banks, PAC's, etc. to politicians with no guardrails and little to no oversight. Creating a sense of hopelessness.
