View from the platform on Snoqualmie Valley Railroad 4012. A staff member is using an electric pole-saw to remove limbs from a fallen tree that is blocking the tracks.

A photo from ground level, most of the branches have been trimmed from the fallen tree now.

The wind and subsequent snow brought down plenty of trees and branches in the area, including a couple over our tracks. Museum staff stayed late on Friday to clear what we could before train operations today.

Photo taken from the second story of the Railway Education Center. A high angle view of Spokane, Portland, & Seattle Coaches 272 and 276 blanketed in fresh, still falling snow. Snoqualmie Valley Railroad 4012 is behind them. Everything is coated with snow, turning the Museum campus into a winter wonderland.

A beautiful morning that really puts the snow in SNOqualmie!
Trains will still be operating as planned this Saturday. If there's still snow, it will just make for an extra-scenic excursion!

Part of the Museum's 30th anniversary celebration in 1987. The all-women steam crew standing in front of United States Plywood Corporation Steam Locomotive 11, which is now on static display at the Snoqualmie Depot. Sue herself is on the top right. Engineer Sue S., Fireman Mary S., Conductor Rose W., Brakeman Kathy H., and Car Attendant Jayne W.

This design was both inspired by and requested by some of our own historic artifacts! ;)
Sue is one of our long-time volunteers - she was even engineer on the Museum's first all-women steam crew in September 1987!

Snoqualmie Valley Railroad's locomotive 4012, a maroon/purple switcher diesel-electric locomotive. It is running light-engine rather than pushing or pulling the Museum's coaches; rolling through the newly installed Bendigo Way road crossing during signal testing.

It's a wonderful weekend for a train ride! Tickets are still available for our Saturday train excursions and you can pre-purchase online!

The Northwest Railway Museum's train set passes by during regular operation on a sunny day in North Bend, Washington. It is heading west towards Snoqualmie. Saturday November 22nd is our last day of regular train operation for 2025, after this weekend we'll be switching gears over to Santa Train for the rest of our operating season.

Ave., Columbus OH 43211 * Website There is a Lionel Model Railroad set up by Central Ohio Model Railroad Club at the Ohio History Center during their holiday season. Kids can interact with the train set, pressing buttons to make the trains go! If you haven’t been to Ohio History Center (or even if you have!), it would make a great trip over Winter Break! There are lots of interactive exhibits for kids including a cabin and hands on pioneer area! The train is usually on display through New Years! This is a handcrafted, Paul Busse railroad that is just incredible to see! The Paul Busse Garden Railway at Franklin Park Conservatory * When: through January 4, 2026 * Where: 1777 E. This outdoor train display has been set up throughout the year and will be decorated for the holidays during the annual Conservatory Aglow event! Steam locomotive Northern Pacific 924 under steam, stopped at the Snoqualmie River Valley overlook near Snoqualmie Falls. Orange autumn leaves blanket the area around the rails and yellow maple leaves hang heavy overhead amongst evergreens.

We had a great turnout for the steam train excursions today even with the breeze and rain! We can't wait to see everyone tomorrow too! Tickets still available:

Two visitors dressed as a hoodoo king and queen. Our first place winners!

The second place winners, a dragon and her knight!

Third place winner, Buddy the service dog and his human! Buddy is a cocker spaniel dressed in a cow costume.

The judges' choice winners, a couple dressed up like the Stay Puft Marshmallow man from Ghostbusters!

Halloween Wine Train was a huge hit! The costume contest was tons of fun and 924 got to ride the rails once more. Prizes included gift cards (and a pie!) from local businesses, train passes, and even an annual membership!
