Nobody benefits from this. We hope to see a world that’s more neuroscience informed when handing out such Dx’s, to improve patient outcomes across the board. A lot of times it’s #traumanotPD. We do not support professionals taking shortcuts and lazy psychoanalysis in this way. 2/2
CBT only works for Cluster B when it’s #traumanotpd (AKA, they’ve been misdiagnosed.)
Cluster B pathologies are diagnosed behaviourally. Meaning; an individual needs to have acted in a socially damaging way to get it. Proper assessment and diagnosis is imperative, as a lot of the behavioural issues can be misinterpreted, especially in cases of #TraumanotPD
PD DX should imo be abolished. For many women the pejorative dustbin diagnonsense results in permanent child removal, severing mother/child ties, destroying lives.
For unprofessionals the DX is a way of justifying maltreatment & abuse

We know not only are there other, better, more affirmative and hopeful diagnoses available for those who want them, but that no treatment approach NECESSARILY requires a PD label for access. The core of good treatment is hope: the storylines we provide MUST foster it

Imagine walking into any classroom or lecture hall—not a psychiatric setting—and suggesting that over 1 in 4 of the women has a personality disorder, likely those who are the poorest, most traumatised, or neurodivergent. And tell me that isn’t political and patriarchal.
