Tree bumblebee perfectly still in a purple crocus flower. Yellow stamen to its right. Sun shining on the petals. It has an amber thorax and it’s so beautiful.

I found this Tree Bumblebee (Bombus hypnorum) nest while out filming yesterday. I didn’t realise that these bees are a recent natural arrival in the UK. First recorded in the south of England in 2001 they are slowly spreading northwards. #Teesdale #treebumblebee #bumblebee #nature #wildlife
