"Being appointed as Finance Trustee to the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) has meant that I have been able to make some (hopefully good!) use of the skills I've gathered during my working career - not only have I been able to bring my accounting knowledge to the BSE but also my experience of working in small and start-up businesses, where everyone has to pull together and quite often just push up your sleeves and do what has to be done - no matter the job description! The added bonus for me, working as a Trustee, has been the experience of working in the health sector and with NHS colleagues on the Board of Trustees and Advisory Council, whose dedication to the delivery of effective and improved echocardiography services is inspiring, and gives me the chance to share in the collective reward of making a difference."
