A striking overhead image reveals a circular hole on the Martian surface, possibly leading to an underground cavern. The hole, approximately 35 meters across, is nestled within a larger crater on the slopes of Pavonis Mons volcano. The image, captured by the HiRISE instrument aboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, hints at a potential habitat for Martian life, shielded from the harsh surface conditions. The depth of the cavern is estimated to be around 20 meters.
