For #ReclamationMod, we have procedurally-tattered banners and black mould, and for #VariousTypes we have tree wing cosmetics that can even match the in-world biome colours!
It's all on aesthetics tonight with some more #VariousTypes work, adding emitter entities to streamline ability effects and finally getting to modelling fairy wings!

It certainly doesn't feel like it's been 7 months since the last update but #VariousTypes finally has a new beta version, for both Fabric and NeoForge, featuring an overhauled command structure and rather more significantly: Cosmetics!

Reproducing this little floating icon cosmetic from #VariousEquipment for #VariousTypes has proven to be quite the headache, but so far I'm making good progress and even some improvements on the original!
A detail to note is that the #VariousTypes cosmetic system has "slots" for each specific category. Most cosmetics only get 1 slot (like ears, nose, or wings) but horns have 3.
This means you can mix and match various models and colours of horns to create stylish looks like the above image!

Hmm, currently the cosmetics system of #VariousTypes treats custom cosmetics as the baseline on top of which everything else is added, but I wonder if the reverse would be better?
It'd preserve custom-tailored aesthetics more, but reflect your actual character build less.

Today I added an actual custom cosmetics section to the #VariousTypes character sheet, so players can have individual cosmetics regardless their actual loadout. Just for RP.

I took one look at just how many creature cosmetics I added in #VariousEquipment way back when and realised that I'm probably going to need more comprehensive cosmetic infrastructure for #VariousTypes.
So I made that, and then gave myself a little developer flair, as a treat 😛

Bit of post-strem research and we now have a fully-functional animation state engine to make the accessory models applied to players by #VariousTypes more stylishly animated, no hard-coding required.
The Poison ability, which inflicts a configurable array of status effects on melee attacks
The Cold Blooded ability afflicts the owner with a configurable set of status effects when within biomes matching various criteria.
Webspinner allows the user to throw blocks wherever they are looking, with a host of configurable details.
Rending deals extra damage to a random piece of armour on victims of melee attacks, or knocking them off entirely if they are unbreakable.
I've finally gotten back to working on #VariousTypes recently and that means a slew of new configurable abilities! Here's a peek at some of the spicier ones.
