Photo of an ESP32 chip laying like a dead spider with its pins up in the air. 3 wires are connected to 3 pins: power, ground, and data. The ground wire is not connected to a data pin. Only an imbecile would do that.
Photo of a small, artificial Christmas tree. It has coloured lights in a rainbow pattern with green at the top on through yellow, red, and then finally green again at the bottom.
Like any normal #homeautomation enthusiast I just happened to have an ESP32 and a 4 amp 5V power supply laying around. So I bought a couple more strands of WS2811 lights, flashed #WLED on it,and poof! second holiday tree is lit.

Just did a proper WLED install for the first time. Bit fiddly as it’s a 5M strip so needed power at both ends which meant soldering was involved, but very pleased with the result! #WLED

Sometimes I forget how much of a nerd I am. I got very excited during a team meeting this morning when my #PowerShell meeting notification script was able to flash the LED strip under my monitor via #WLED. When I have a meeting in <5m my monitor does a slow red flash.
Learn here how to install the wLED binary, which means flashing your ESP32 microcontroller.
Make sure your power source is constant, which means use a uninterruptible power supply, UPS, at least while you are flashing!
Please do not brick your ESP32 […]

This is een important word of warning from the wLED Creator
New setups should use the ESP32 not the dated ESP8266 because that reaches end of life
