The head and a few inches of body of a strikingly pretty Watersnake - appearing from beneath one plank and resting it's head upon another. Snake has a cocoa brown upper body, with noticably keeled scales on its back. It's chin and underbelly are a reddish orange color. There are several dark brown vertical stripes from the lip down to the the chin. Dark eyes have round pupils.

A common water snake (Nerodia sipedon) coiled on a boulder with their head in up and off the ground. The snake’s mouth is slightly open and shot in slight profile in the center of the frame. The lighting barely allows us to see their iconic banding that is more visible in juveniles.
