Why Everyone Is Talking About the “Fake Spring” Meme and What It Means When premature warmth tricks us into thinking spring is here…the internet makes a meme about it.

I THOUGHT I'd been hearing this phrase more often recently!

Global warming, just like COVID, is also influencing our collective conversation and vocabulary, for everyone trying to survive this new reality.

Once-in-a-generation storm to bring tornadoes, historic flooding A once-in-a generation extreme weather event is beginning Wednesday with a tornado outbreak and will continue into the weekend with dangerous, life-threatening flooding.

This is like the 5th "once in a generation" headline I have been reading within the last week. I feel they are counting wrong.

Agree. And maybe we all need to ask the Tories how they will cope with the continuous rise of #FossilFuel prices to 2050, and how they will protect against #RisingSeaLevels and increasingly severe #WeatherExtremes... See if they can put some data behind the spin! (They can't!)

Shows a map of North America and the shear winds in the upper troposphere which are extreme in wide arc across eastern North America ranging from Canada to Florida

We observe a intensification of low and high pressure systems on a seasonal, regional level or event based.

And the larger and powerful these systems get the more abnormal air movements they cause which then disturb/intensify/suppress/reroute other circulation patterns.

This system becomes now fast more chaotic...

Sadly, more people do not understand what non-linear means in its most basis form: things can now very fast further escalate...

Nice example of how large these systems now get on a regular basis

Here the recent storm front across the eastern US driven by a exceptional large low pressure system.

Category 5 cyclone nears Western Australia coast 'Very destructive winds of up to 290 kilometers per hour' are likely close to center of Cyclone Zelia as it crosses coast, Australian Bureau of Meteorology says

Are 180 mph gusts bad? I mean I come through 60-80 mph gusts all the time and they cause a lot of damage, so this sounds like annihilation-by-wind, to me. I mean really, really sci-fi horror bad.
