It is Riffing on / Updating the antiestablishment *Radical Activists* that proliferated in CA during the ‘60s-‘70s. Paul Thomas Anderson mashed-up the #BlackPanthers / #Weathermen / #SLA and *Reimagined* their collective Vibe for Now. It’s a good film — but IMO not Great like #SINNERS. 🤷🏽♀️
PS: I’m a native #SanFranciscan who came of age in the ‘70s. Can accurately report that the #SymbianeseLiberationArmy— the group that kidnapped and radicalized #PattyHearst— and the #Weathermen (who blew up public spaces in the ‘70s) only Superficially resemble the Radical group depicted in #OBAA 🤷🏽♀️🌁
Yep. Sadly, #OBAA’s inaccurate version of the #Weathermen and other canonical anti-capitalist resistance orgs that mounted Ops during the ‘60s-‘70s in NorCal is more palatable to *some* White Americans than the fact-based fictional Black People resistance Ops presented by #RyanCoogler in #SINNERS.

This turnaround of #America has been spoken of as a response to the reasonably effective antiwar movement of the #Vietnam era, clearly preceding the Reagan years.
The #Woodstock generation (ie: #Yippies, #Weathermen, #BlackPanthers, etc.) scared the crap out of the "Establishment" & here we are 🌋
Today in #LaborHistory 10/8/1969: #SDS #Weathermen launched Days of Rage, #Chicago, to protest #Vietnam War. Attacked cops & local businesses. 6 unarmed activists were shot. >60 arrested. Blew up statue of #police from 1886 #Haymarket affair.
