Bummed to see Etel Haxhiaj lose her re-election bid. Her 2024 interview about why she participated in #WeekWithoutDriving was one of my favorites because of the empathy she showed for community members who can't drive or afford to.
I just learned about #WeekWithoutDriving and *of course* support the idea as a gateway to life without driving. But the site frames it as exposure to the suffering of those who cannot enjoy motoring…not exactly an inspiring message. weekwithoutdriving.org

I think you have a good point. I am frequently surprised how few transportation planners etc make the effort to even occasionally do an ugly bus trip. I learn so much by taking inconvenient transit trips. (I do drive). #WeekWithoutDriving seems like a great learning opportunity.
This is why I think #weekwithoutdriving is so valuable. It's about recognizing that involunary nondrivers exist in every community and trying to understand our mobility needs.

The training focused on how reliable transportation can help #nondrivers stay connected to work, school, community, and more.
