The Poe Box, a family relic: An old, battered tin cigar box resting on a faded Turkish carpet. Behind it is a stack of ragged cardboard cigar boxes. On top of the tin box are these objects: 1. A raven's skull 2. A small wooden box, open, containing a linked bracelet made of plaques representing the coats of arms of various French nobility and a large pair of tweezers 3. A respectably sized ammonite 4. A set of balance scale weights 5. A World War 2 US Army-issued morphine kit.

I cleared out the house my grandparents built in the 1940s. It was an archeological expedition. There were lots of cigar boxes containing oddities. I named this one the Poe Box. Item ID in alt text. #Oddities #Antique #WeirdStuff
