Although it is edible (it is a cabbage relative) you may want to give its deep green cousin a try instead, as this one would be bitter. Kale in a stir fry with parsnip and smoked bacon (sorry vegetarians!) is very tasty!

Afternoon winter sun lights a slender twig arcing into frame from the upper left with 5 partly overlapping leaves toward the tip (I think this is Amelanchier/ Saskatoon/Serviceberry, but my brain is refusing to switch on right now..lol) . The leaves are autumn red brown, dry with some holes and tears here and there and a slight rim and dusting of frost. Behind the leaves is a rough furrowed poplar trunk, the golden light making it appear lighter than it is. To the left blurred shadowed tree trunks with light coming between paint an abstract pastel view of dark vertical bands with the gaps stuffed with piles of circles of light in clear, gold and pale blue.
