Shipwreck hunter discovers sunken 150-year-old luxury liner off the coast of Wisconsin Scuba diver Paul Ehorn's recent discovery of the Lac La Belle was nearly 60 years in the making and is part of an overall uptick in Great Lakes shipwreck discoveries.

Well this is a cool piece of Wisconsin history. A shipwreck hunter just discovered a 150-year-old luxury liner resting in Lake Michigan off Wisconsin’s coast. The Great Lakes keep receipts… they just wait a century to show them. ⚓️ #WisconsinHistory #GreatLakes #Shipwreck #LakeMichigan #Wisconsin

Lloyd Barbee didn’t ask Wisconsin nicely to desegregate its schools—he sued.
In 1965, his case forced Milwaukee to confront segregation it pretended didn’t exist.
Progress here has always been lawyered into existence.

Wisconsin became a U.S. territory in 1836 and achieved statehood in 1848, just a few years after Wales was founded!

Today, the village still honors its Welsh roots - from its name to local traditions that celebrate its unique heritage.

A sepia-toned, hazy historical-style scene of women and young girls working in a kitchen or institutional setting. The women, all wearing light-colored dresses and aprons, are engaged in tasks like washing, mixing, or holding bowls. Two small blonde-haired girls in similar dresses stand beside the women, one tugging gently on a woman’s apron. The overall atmosphere is dim, soft-focused, and somber, evoking an early 20th-century institutional environment. Altered from this image: https://www.wisconsinhistory.org/Records/Image/IM99239

Love me some local #WisconsinHistory, and a #UWSP student from Colby (yes, like the cheese) built a great
@omeka.org exhibit on the Colby Rural Arts Museum. Lots of potential for growth in this project, too!
