A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing of a smiling bright green oval-shaped frog wearing a small Santa hat, sitting upright, looking at the viewer front on, holding a square wrapped present. The frog is spotted in lighter and darker shades of green, and has large gold eyes with black horizontal pupils, open wide. The present is wrapped in red paper and gold ribbon, and looks like a vinyl record album. I made a joke that it is Jean-Michel Jarre’s “Musique pour supermarché” (Music for supermarkets), of which only one vinyl copy was pressed. It sold for a lot of money at auction, then the master plates were destroyed. It is unlikely Frog has received a copy of this album. This is probably Herb Alpert’s “Whipped Cream and Other Delights”.

The toad’s oven mitts are holding the baking tray thumbs up, so the rest of their paws are supporting the tray. Yes! The crescent rolls are a little dark; toad likes them that way. The Santa hat is draped across the top of Toad’s head, with the Pom-Pom tip hanging down on the right. Toad looks severe, but toad is very happy, toad’s face just sits like that. Happy Frogmas Eve!

This is a reference to the raccoon that broke into a liquor store in the U.S. and passed out in the restroom. There are pictures! The Santa hat has fallen off the frog’s head, and is draped over their back on the right side. Their gold eyes have little black X pupils. The label on the left alcohol miniature reads “REGR CHEAP BOOZ” (Regret Cheap Booze), the liquid is pinkish, and is puddled on the floor. The right alcohol miniature is upside down and above in relation to the frog, and the label reads “BAD IDEA LIQUOR”. The liquid from this bottle is blue, and is puddled by the frog’s head. Their tongue is out, licking the blue puddle. Forg is not dead, just dead drunk. Holidays!

A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing of a smiling orange frog in a Santa hat, playing a piano. They are all under water, and there are three fish singing upper left. The water behind them is dark, lit only by multicoloured lights that are placed like eyes (only one pair of lights has pupils). The piano has regular keys, but the place where the strings would be is instead filled with black mussels, most of them open and singing (I know this is not how mussels work, but it’s holiday magic). The frog is facing slightly left, head tilted up, fingers on the keys, and their right foot visible, with toes tapping. This means that since the sustain pedal is played is played with the right foot, Xmas Frog is playing pizzicato, or perhaps jazz. Sound travels differently underwater. Frog reference: Ernst Haeckel, a frog in the background of Plate 68 in Kunstformen der Natur, 1904.
