Text from 7:09AM: Ooh good question. So many options, but for you I'd probably recommend X-Men 97, the new Disney+ animated show. It is a continuation of the 90s cartoon, but you don't have to have seen the old stuff to enjoy this. It's emotional, well-written, and has everything that makes the X-Men great. If you want a comic, I recommend "God Loves, Man Kills," a classic standalone X-Men story about a crazed evangelical pastor who leads a crusade against mutants. If you have LOTS of time on your hands, or want to learn everything about a specific character, the podcast "Cerebro" is comprehensive, queer, and hilarious. He goes character by character through their entire publication history.
Two other options: The Fox X-Men films are not the best, but they were a lot of people's introduction. X2 is the best of them all. I think you would enjoy the first 2 at least. And recently I caught up on "X-Men The Audio Drama." It is a fan production that tells the classic stories with impressive voice acting and good character work.
