My mum retired from teaching in AB in the early 2000s, and at the time she left, the disrespect from the gov't and parents (she taught in a wealthy neighbourhood) was staggering. I'm so sad that this has only got worse. No education = no future.

I have FEELINGS about substitute teachers appreciation week.
Substitute teachers are exploited by the Albertan public education system, and marginalized in the profession & Assocation. You know what doesn't make that better? An email or video saying how appreciated subs are.

So we are 'building' a bunch of k-6 and k-9 schools in Alberta.
Where are the high schools? All the high schools in Edmonton are overflowing and out of room. The 1 Catholic school in #yeg isn't nearly enough for all the kids who are currently in elementary and will be moving up.

For clarity - there are multiple graphic novel versions of 1984 (TIL!) Calgary Board of Education and EPSB removed a different version (this one) www.amazon.ca/George-Orwel... But it's unclear from Rocky View Schools' list which version they removed. #AbEd

The Centre for Free Expression has done far more legwork, contacting every Alberta school division, asking how many removed books, and sending access to info requests to every division that said they did remove materials. The results they have so far are in this national challenge database #AbEd
