Phew, I did my first ever guided tour on our archives on friday and now when it's sunday I can say I'm pretty much recovered 😂 Students are a lot easier group to lead than a group of mostly pensioners!

Yesterday's archive find: the christmas peace declaration formula notes, written by the Turku magistrate's secretary in 1827 from memory after the original documents were burned in town fire. Super cool find!

Today at work: not everything in archives are preserved forever - in fact, some are discarded after a relatively short period of time. Today getting rid of old voting ballots. Though I wasn't deliberately looking at them, this caught my eye and made my day.

Microfilms, ancient technique really but very much still in use. Today at work checking out microfilmed 19th century construction drawings. Being an archivist is really quite nice on days like this!
