I sometimes do medical appt support for a friend of mine. On Thursday after her appt, I was stopped in the corridor & asked about my sunflower lanyard. When I said I had cerebellar #ataxia, the woman said to me "But you look so normal and healthy".
That's why it's called an invisible disability 😬🙄

I have eye issues associated with my cerebellar ataxia. My eyes can't follow a moving object between 2 points accurately, the muscles are weak & lack control. This is called abnormal saccades, & exercises to try and slow its advance often don't work.
This+poor balance=falls.

Have managed to access a full physio assessment at Wellington Hospital for my cerebellar ataxia. A physio visited me this morning to discuss strength and balance training and working on my vestibular function.
I will also be getting a stool for the shower.
