In spring 2025, artists Mikel R. Nieto and Illart Alkorta began a series of recordings in ponds and wetlands in Igeldo–Igara (Basque Country), studying the southern frog’s song and its relationship with the environment.

The left image shows an Open Acoustic Devices team member testing the first version of AudioMoth 1.0.0 with Lora radio integration in a Belize tropical forest. The AudioMoth is housed in an early prototype enclosure consisting of layers of clear acrylic laser cut sheets. Initial findings in 2018 indicated a wireless range of less than 50 metres. The right image depicts the same team member testing the integration of satellite communication on AudioMoth Dev for real-time alerts and status updates on a remote location on the Isle of Wight, UK. The AudioMoth Dev is housed inside an AudioMoth Dev Case with an AudioMoth external microphone installed on the bottom left of the case with deac-cat windshield.

A huge thank you to Prof. Alex Rogers for generously donating #AudioMoth acoustic detectors to support post–Hurricane Melissa wildlife surveys. These units will be deployed in the field over the coming weeks to complement the other equipment already in use.

This time I left my #audiomoth for 2 days at Hamsterley Forest. Just finished going through all recordings and have identified a total of 49 species. List below shows nothing unexpected. But I also saw and heard Crossbills which weren't picked up on recording. @openacousticdevices.info

I put my #audiomoth out at Derwent Gorge, Muggleswick and left it for 4 days. I have only worked my way through 2 days so this is the results, so far. 50 species including Tawny, Barn and Little Owls with Woodcock at night. #NEbirding

I made a guard to protect the @openacousticdevices.info #audiomoth membrane... Last time the audio recorders were out on peak district moors the membranes were damaged, maybe pecked by birds, resulting in damage to the devices.
