Rahman shared anecdotes of microaggressions some students experienced--instructors who cut them off when they spoke, instructors who skipped over them when giving feedback in class, reviewers who nitpicked grammar in manuscripts. (ARGH.)

How many writing tutors and teachers have been told students didn't want to work with them because they weren't, or at least seemed to not be, native speakers of English? (I've been questioned about this as an instructor and a tutor both, though I'm a monolingual English speaker.)
