Committee advances bill requiring background checks for residential staff and commissioning review of support coordination HB 565 would require background screening for all employees at residential facilities and day-training programs serving people with developmental disabilities and directs a statewide review of support coordination quality, caseloads and best practices with policy recommendations due by February 2027; the committee reported it favorably (13 yeas).

A new bill in Florida aims to ensure safety for individuals with developmental disabilities by mandating background checks for all residential staff and launching a comprehensive review of support services.
