Title: “Small Town Grocery Store Stories: LGBTQ+ friendly edition.”
Teacher sees a student holding hands with a teammate in the dairy aisle. Student: “Oh hey, Professor X!” then hurriedly: his girlfriend knows; he’s not cheating; he’s not gay (and being gay isn’t bad). They’re not together—they just hold hands in public sometimes, especially on Fridays, weekends, and at away games. Reason: people might say something homophobic, and then they can punch them, and coach won’t be mad. Hand-holding boy: nice to punch a homophobe; maybe others will think twice if another boy later has a boyfriend. The gay friend, smiling: it’s sweet, not really weird. Commenters: “This is what ‘boys will be boys’ is meant to be.” / “Best thing I’ve seen in a while.”
From Tumblr, this is the kind of energy I wish more people at my high school had (snowball's chance in hell, given where I went to high school).
