I totally agree! When I was on my weight loss journey, I had hit the gym hard to "earn" my food. That was a very toxic mindset to have, which hindered my weight loss journey. It made everything feel like a chore to earn points for calories. #notfun

This post resonates w/ me b/c it shows how green foods give important nutrients like fiber/vitamins to support all health. This relates to what we learned in class about how access/habits influence our food choices so these type of reminders help encourage healthy eating #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I agree. When unhealthy foods are more available on campus, it becomes harder for students to choose healthy options.🥗

Hi, I agree there’s a lot of confusion/misinformation online about things like seed oils. It’s easy for people to see posts or videos that make certain foods seem “bad” without full context, which can make it harder to know what choices are actually healthy or not @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

One barrier to healthy eating for college students like me is lack of time. Between classes, studying, and work, it’s often easier to grab fast food instead of preparing healthy meals. This makes it harder to maintain balanced eating habits. (Munt et al., 2017) 🥗⏱️

This is a huge struggle that college students face. Many low income neighborhoods also face this. There are lots of "food deserts" where access to super markets and grocery stores are very limited, but fast food restaurants are abundant. How can we change this?

As someone who is on the same pathway, I agree that our schedule is always so packed that even having some time to ourselves is tough. I think we can eat healthily if we take a day to just meal prep, even if we don't want to.

I understand you! As a student I feel like I hardly have time for anything other than school. Meal planning and cooking often take a back seat when it comes to prioritizing things on my to-do list. I to have felt "forced" to buy the unhealthier options for convenience.

One barrier I relate to is the widespread presence of unhealthy foods on campus. Cafeterias often have buffet-style/fast-food options & vending machines everywhere make it easy to overeat/pick unhealthy snacks. More healthy options would help students make better choices #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

A barriers to healthful eating that I can relate to is my physical environment. As a college student I am surrounded by unhealthy food choices. A lot the foods at hand come from vending machines, the school "cafeteria", and convenience stores.

This is great information! It is important to include green foods on the table. Personally, I don’t like eating green foods, but I try to include them in my meals for their healthy fibers and vitamins. More information about these green foods should be spread out!

I agree! There were days where I was so busy that I didn't eat as I normally do and I immediately felt the side effects. That's why nowadays even if I need to get something done I won't sacrifice my meals and health anymore. Prioritizing eating improved my life overall. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Without a plan, trying to crash-create a healthy meal is hard. I absolutely agree that taking time to plan for healthy meals is important, or at least to balance such choices. I personally try to make it a habit of planning food menus for each week.

I relate to this barrier as well! When I'm on campus I usually don't have time to leave the university to go get something healthier due to being busy with assignments.. but even ordering chipotle gets very expensive for a student and not sustainable over time. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

And also if you want to get a healthy food from outside, it is way more expensive than any fast food. If you want to have health, you need to consume money or your time/effort. For majority of students, they consume their health to save time/money/effort. #beh353

Unhealthy food being cheaper than healthy food is a phenomenon common in current society. For example, unhealthy fast foods and snacks are cheaper and thus more accessible. A burger set at McDonalds costs less than $17. Healthy meals, on the contrary, cost almost $30.

I really like this and think this is important because it shows that sugar cravings are not just about willpower. They can be caused by things like stress, lack of sleep, or not eating enough nutrients. Understanding the cause can help people make healthier choices. #beh353

I relate to that too. It’s really hard to turn down food during holidays, especially when family members make it with love. Social situations definitely make it harder to stick to healthy eating habits. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This is really interesting. There’s so much debate online about seed oils, so it’s helpful to see what the actual scientific research says. It’s a good reminder that nutrition information on social media can be misleading without looking at the evidence. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I relate to lack of time to plan and cook healthy foods. With classes and studying, it’s easier to grab fast food or something quick instead of preparing a healthy meal. Because of my busy schedule, convenience sometimes takes priority over eating healthier. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Fuel, joy, and accessibility and all things I think about with my diet. I try to eat the more healthier options when I have them, but if I only have time to eat something quick and easy, then I shouldn't have to feel bad for it.

I also find myself struggling with this barrier as well! When my siblings or friends are always going out to eat, it is hard to spend time with them without also eating. I find myself trying to order the more healthier options possible, like lean meats or diet soda.

I can relate to this a lot. When school gets busy it’s definitely easier to grab quick foods instead of cooking a full meal. I’ve noticed that planning simple meals or snacks ahead of time can sometimes help make healthier choices easier when time is limited.

One barrier that I have personality struggled with is the lack of time to plan, shop, prepare, and cook healthy foods. After going to classes, work, and studying all day, I find it hard to be able to find time to cook something I enjoy, so it's faster to get fast food.

One barrier I relate to is unhealthy diet of friends and family. It's definitely harder to stay true to my own diet when I'm out in a group setting due to having to find an option that everyone approves. I try my best to make healthy choices without standing out too much. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

A barrier pair I come up to a lot at the same time: eating patterns of friends/family and expected consumption, especially around the holidays. Its hard to turn down cookies on Christmas, especially when you know a family member baked it with tons of love (and butter)! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This article is super helpful for those trying to start eat healthy. The part saying you don’t need to be rigid with the routine but start small is really motivating. I will start with grocery planning and 3-4 healthy meals. Small habits can build on and make difference. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

One barrier I relate to is lack of planning. When I don’t plan my meals ahead of time I’m likely to choose quick and less healthy options. A barrier I have that prevents me from healthy eating is "Lack of time to plan, shop, prepare and cook healthy foods." With my lack of time from working 30 hours a week, and having a 1-way commute of an hour to school, I have no time to prepare healthy meals.

The barrier I feel for healthy food is healthy food always cost extra outside. In my hometown, there is restaurant known for healthy food that celebrities goes as well, but simple salad or kimbap cost 2-3 times more. I tried it and it is good, but not a price for everday. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
