Ending with a favourite: NP #hawkwatch counters have gotten better at raptor identification over time. Fewer unidentified now. #birddata
NP #Hawkwatch has tracked logged hours since 1980, and is very consistent, which is good for the data! #birddata
The NP #Hawkwatch does not see many Northern Goshawks any more. The species is in slight decline, migration sightings down sharply #birddata
The Bald Eagle recovery is well-documented in the NP #hawkwatch dataset, the banning of DDT had a very clear effect. 🦅 #birddata
Broad-winged Hawks are erratic: they migrate during a short window of time in huge flocks. Some years may take alternate routes #birddata
Red-tailed Hawks are having a slight decrease as well, which may also be due to wintering further north as the years go on #birddata
Red-shouldered Hawks are comparatively stable, though trending slowly downwards. We need a couple more years to be sure #birddata
The answer may be a changing climate: more Sharp-shinned Hawks wintering further north, so fewer need to migrate through Niagara #birddata

The real stand-out species in the data, by far, is the Turkey Vulture. Just a handful of birds in the 70s to thousands today #birddata
