What a great first day! Thanks to all of you, we’ve raised $81 towards my goal. I can’t express enough how much I appreciate every one of you. Please continue to share with others if you can so we can help Mandy and Lara Sirdah.
I’m also happy to report that I identified 8 total species today: blue jay, American crow, northern mockingbird, northern cardinal, house sparrow, turkey vulture, Carolina wren, and white-throated sparrow. I wasn’t counting on the white-throated sparrows! They left in the spring and I knew they’d be back for autumn/winter, but I wasn’t sure when. They like to sleep in our bamboo and I thought I heard one last night, but was like nah. And the the sun set this evening and there were a bunch of voices! They made me so happy. This is why birding is so special.
Until tomorrow!
A turkey vulture soaring high in a deep blue sky with white wisps of cloud past a green-but-turning-yellow deciduous tree. It is a large bird that appears all dark because of the distance but the two-toned undersides of the wings are still visible in shades of “dark”, lighter on the entire trailing edge of the wings. Its wings make a V shape. The vulture wing “fingers” are visible as well.
Thank you for helping me raise $81 so far for the Birders of Palestine! I appreciate you all so much. Please continue sharing and donate if you can. I’ve found 8 species so far! The #birdathon continues through Monday, October 20. #BirdSky
