Sonnet #6 6 1944 This band of men came in their thousands. Each a different nationality. From all around the world with their big guns. Into this alternative reality To finally stop the advancing hoard. They landed early morning on beaches. With names like Juno, Utah and Sword. They blasted the defences to pieces. They sacrificed everything without thought. Survival for all was no guarantee. With dignity and strength they fought. And lay down their lives so we could be free. Today we honour them without question. And betray, as we’ve not learnt our lesson. @BardPharts 27 May 2024
