Contractors have been hard at it this week clearing a culvert and installing a new pipe that runs under the Shroppie in Gnosall. Several vans & men, lots of equipment. Not sure what made them check it/repair it but as #boaters we're grateful for pro-active work! #UKCanals
NABO says #boaters understand about "Heritage" but this is a lock ladder. A safety feature. We've been informed by a reliable source that lock ladders weren't even at every lock until this century. They are essential for solo boaters amongst others.
Why does the "specialist contractor" not have the materials required to hand? Solo #boaters depend on these ladders & it's important any contractors keep essentials.

C&RT should update all downloadable #boaters' guides now that facilities have closed! It's important the info provided is accurate, yet toilets, showers & some refuse points are still listed. Also on maps that accompany the stoppage notices, eg. at Norbury & Nantwich!

We’ve checked our records & according to @CanalRiverTrust, @CRTBoating stoppage notice 028145, both HG locks were due to be repaired 4/11 - 6/12 2024 but lock 2 subsequently cancelled. Not sure if balance beam needed repaired or not. #boaters #UKCanals

NABO has been active in pushing CRT to repair elsans & pumpouts quicker. CRT had some amazing revelations of cause of breakdowns. Items blocking elsans: tea towels, bleach bottles, mop heads, stiletto shoes, trainers, bras, cans, bottles, & a double duvet! #boaters #UKCanals continued…
