If you spray a live ant with Oleic Acid, it will be carried off by others thinking that it has died.
But you know what else has Oleic Acid?
Cereals!
Which is the likely cause of the below post that prompted today's #BugFact.

Time for another #BugFact!
Eusocial insects have a process for keeping their dead away from the nest for hygiene reasons. It's called Necrophoresis. In ants, it's achieved through a chemical signal produced by Oleic Acid when an Ant dies.
It is, however, very easy to trick an ant with Oleic Acid.
I have a new cool #BugFact for you all. And this one's pretty topical!
Here in Ireland, February 11th is the Feast Day of Saint Gobnait (pronounced Gubnet I think), County Cork's Patron Saint of Bees and Beekeeping. She's also sometimes considered the Patron Saint of Ironworking (talk about metal!)
I came across another very cool #BugFact
If you ever played Pokémon, odds are you have heard of the move U-Turn. But have you ever wondered why U-Turn is a Bug Type Move?
It actually goes back to it's original Japanese naming. Over there, it's called Tonbōgaëri, literally "Dragon-Fly Turning".
Fun #BugFact as we come up to Lorwyn Eclipsed preview season.
Throughout the entirety of Lorwyn block (Lorwyn/ Morningtide/Shadowmor) there was exactly ONE Insect printed!
That honour goes to Goldenglow Moth, one of the first Insects I caught sight of when I first really got into Magic in 2017.
Picture of a cross orb weaver with its web overlapping a rich blue circle of white stars. One star stretches its 4 points of light across the circle, resembling cross hairs.
Cross Orb weavers...
Did you know their web silk was used to create cross hairs thin enough for stargazing/mapping instruments? 🕷🌠

Let's celebrate a belated 8/8 with a gargantuan #BugFact.
Introduced in Innistrad, Moldgraf Monstrosity held the honour of being the largest on-print insect in Magic for 11 years until finally sharing that title with Giant Ankheg in Battle for Baulders Gate, and being dethroned by Altanak in 2024!
Ooh ooh shameless #BugFact plus time!

#BUGFACT The Imago stage of an insect typically refers to its final, typically winged, adult state.
So the flavour text relating to being "more than you are" is really resonant.
Let's all strive to reach our own personal Imagos. 🦋

The use of the word "gregarious" in the flavour text of Quag Feast could be a double meaning!
While, traditionally, the word is used to mean cooperative or sociable; in the context of Insects, gregarious behaviour also describes the swarming behaviour of Insects!
It's this little guy!
#Bugfact this was the first one mana Insect with unconditional deathtouch. Normally they would attach deathtouch to a attack trigger or an activated ability, such as with Skittering Heartstopper.
#BugFact the Eumidian likely derive their name from the vespid subfamily Eumeninae; commonly known as Potter Wasps.
They're what are known as solitary wasps, which means that they live without a colony.
But actually most wasps are solitary, what makes these special is how they build their homes.
Fun little #Bugfact, despite being named "The Glimmerwasp", Zabaz's body plan is more in line with typical beetle.
Doubly interesting is that, even within the insect type, beetles particularly are fond of +1/+1 counters, which makes modular a perfect fit for them!
