Let me explain why I love the cover of this #book I bought used. A child of a #classicist got a hold of this Teubner, thought Crispus was a funny name and that it should obviously be altered to the name of the shortening their classicist parent keeps in the fridge, giving us Gaius Sallustius Crisco!

TIL (okay, last week) that ancient India invented a game that ultimately became chess! It started with 4 players and traveled through Arabia before arriving in Europe. Some of the pieces even had the same/similar moves!

TIL: Hummingbirds and butterflies are the souls of those passed on who traveled with the sun in Mexica-lore.

I also learned that Huitzilopochtli guided the Axtecs/Mexicas to their empire's base and looked after his people.
