An overlook view with a sign called Bellevue in the Baden bei wien park. The sky is blue and gray holding rain that came while I painted. A big gray tree stood in front with black lines like wrinkles. Skinny Cyprus trees grew to the left down the hill toward the green dome structure. Blackish gray steps led to the dome structure where covered seating awaited with a painted ceiling. In the skyline a hill or mountain is seen in purple- just a skinny line of terrain near the sky. Orange and red tiled roofs stood out from leafless trees. The stop of an aqua church steeple is off to the right.
I enjoyed painting this one. It’s 180 x 240 mm around 7 x 9 inches on archival paper. It was the last painting I did before leaving Vienna.
It went from warm (50 / Fahrenheit) and sunny to a quick band of rain to wind and dropping temperatures. I call it Baden from the Bellevue lookout.
I added some pen details/ the OBB train behind the green steeple and a window on a tower, some wrinkles on the tree, and lines around trees in the right hand corner, railing and on the bottom of the domed building.
If you find yourself in Baden Bei Vienna, go to the park and walk the Beethoven Trail (weg) to one that leads to an overlook area called Bellevue. I painted this from there. I see it as a teaching spot for Creative play for Adults. I loved Baden. #EastCoastKin #Vienna #watercolors #creativeplay
