The attack:
The creative engine; we do not have this player. This is probably where we need the DP spot.
The wide connectors Rossi and it sounds like Akhundzade; but we haven’t seen Akhundzade yet.
The striker Abou Ali; we’re good here.

The double pivot midfield.
The deep lying playmaker; this is Andre Gomes, let’s get him 90 minute fitness.
The vacuum/shield this should be Bangoura, but he isn’t ready. This is another strike on Issa. Getting this right was just as important as Gomes and we didn’t get it right.

Full backs; I do not think we’re in a good position here. I like Arfsten but he wants to play too wide and have too many tricks for this role. I hope he has a good World Cup.
Herrera isn’t it either.
I think Farsi could be great if he comes back fully fit and wants to be here.

So here’s my honest assessment of where Crew’s roster is against Rydstrom’s Malmo 4-2-3-1 at its best.
CB pair
Progressor this could be Zawa; I do think he would look good in this role.
Stopper, no one. I’m not trying to be a jerk here but we do not have this player.

The 2026 #Crew96 team currently have the same amount of points after 4 games as the 2016 team and this is likely due to the 10 year anniversary of the #ForColumbus kit.
Well, the only fun thing about tonight’s #crew96 game, my 5th grader was one of the students picked from his school to help paint tonight’s tifo.
Here’s the thing: Sean is the Rudy replacement. He was the best #crew96 CB last year and no one else was close. He was the 2nd highest rated CB in the MLS, per FotMob!
Not saying Issa shouldn’t have added another quality CB to the mix this offseason, but with Gomes here, move Sean back permanently

We knew there would be growing pains for Henrik & #Crew96. But no wins & 2 gut-punch losses in 4 games is tough. No goals in 2 home games. Crew were good for 30 mins tonight & after that Arftsen grazing crossbar was as good as it got. Too much sideways & back passing. Play 2 win. Abou Ali isolated.
Keeping this in mind that I can attend a tailgate for free, and not spend $1500 a seat for a season in Midfield to watch this garbage. 😉 #Crew96
Issa has swung and missed on basically every big decision he’s had to make, the sooner #Crew96 cut ties with him, the better
Rough. Really rough from #Crew96. Another home game played to not concede, yet this came against a team who wasn’t focused on this game in the slightest, Nashville looking ahead to the Champions Cup. Abou Ali is too isolated with Rossi playing wide.

If I were in charge of #Crew96 FO right now I’m negotiating a buyout with Gazdag. I’m looking for a creative 3rd DP, but they aren’t coming until after the WC. Rudy has to be on the bench, and honestly Malte should be as well. We need a rock in the center, and I’d Play Sean in Maltes spot. 1/2
I still think the Gomes introduction was the highlight of the match. He had tremendous poise and distribution. When he gets fully fit I think that will be huge.
