Closing session at @csvconf.bsky.social by Rahul Bhargava and it's a physical interactive session, building data art

We're closing @csvconf.bsky.social with a data sculpture activity! #csvconf #csvconfv9
The focus on multi language diversity is spot on. This is such important work. Keep an eye on the Mozilla Data Collective, launching in mere 5 days from now!

Jennifer Ding talking at @csvconf.bsky.social on a topic that really... resonates with me (sorry): governance of choir voice data.
#csvconfv9
Back at track 2, my energy is going down but I'm hanging in here! This is going to be about developing governance tools bottom-up and enabling capacity for collective action.

The data table discussion was great! Lots of thoughts and important questions. One will stick with me in the long term, I think - how do you know when to pull the plug on something? A project, a community, anything really. Letting go can be so hard.
#csvconf #csvconfv9
After the coffee break, we'll meet for data tables! I suggested one around building communities. Here's proof of me writing it down :)
The question spinning in my head is - are values enough?
Hope to see you there!

This picture seems like a perfect wrap-up to the keynote by @aborruso.bsky.social and @giorgialodi.bsky.social at #csvconf #csvconfv9. Keep communities inside and shift the focus back to people! The rest will come.
I feel this a lot. And it taps back to a lot that has been discussed in the last two days here at @csvconf.bsky.social. Technology cannot be enough. Machine to machine cannot be enough. Never. #csvconf #csvconfv9
So many questions so little answers #csvconf #csvconfv9
Told you! #csvconf #csvconfv9
I have the feeling this presentation is going to be full of fun (or not?) stuff and posting about it won't do it justice! Go watch it on YouTube later on!

Italian #opendata legends @aborruso.bsky.social and @giorgialodi.bsky.social
now at #csvconfv9 talking about 15 years of Open data in Italy.
@csvconf.bsky.social
It's time for the last keynote at #csvconf #csvconfv9! We'll be hearing from @giorgialodi.bsky.social and @aborruso.bsky.social - dirige l'orchestra Beppe Sollazzo @puntofisso.bsky.social! 🎶
#csvconfv9 looks the magic, going on my conference bucket list
It gives me so much energy and hope to see so many people busy with using data to empower communities, to defend communities, to actually do some good. #csvconf #csvconfv9
is definitely showing this, and I needed it - SO MUCH.
As much as I start to need some food to be honest :D Breaking for lunch!
We get to see some of the co-created projects of #data4change, from COVID projects to data murals!
#csvconf #csvconfv9
Love to see the diverse team behind Data4Change! Nobody with a unique set of skills, because looking at data and making sense of data and especially making sure data can bring a change is definitely a complex task and the toolbox needs to be big and rich! #csvconf #csvconfv9
This is about using data for change and unlocking its power. Obviously this is first and foremost about data that does not get collected: what gets counted countrs, right? #csvconf #csvconfv9

I stick with track 2 because the next talk is called "Data without boarders: Straight out of spreadsheets and into the streets" and - I mean - this seems like something I'd love to hear about. Here we go! #csvconf #csvconfv9
A thing I absolutely love: reusability by design, not an afterthought or a wish, a conscious choice.
We're working on a collaborative document now, so if you're not here, well, sorry! :) #csvconf #csvconfv9
A recent workshop was developed not just on how to use data effectively, but how to unlock it: data accessibility is definitely still a thing where a lot of work needs to be done. Understanding APIs and data queries, navigating repositories, citing datasets properly! #csvconf #csvconfv9
I am running on two shots of coffee and too many feelings for this, but here I am back at track 2, with bridging communities at the Carpentries. It's all about improve data skills through enhanced collaboration! #csvconf #csvconfv9
All of this together builds up what @rahulbot.bsky.social calls "popular data". A lot of this and much more is written up in his book, Community Data, go have a look. #csvconf #csvconfv9

What a fantastic keynote this was, thank you so much!
The answer is, obviously, yes. Data drums is a climate change sonification project that does exactly this: help people "feel" the data - this means experiencing the knowledge, while enjoying the music show. This is how I'd like to learn everything to be honest ;) #csvconf #csvconfv9
Another piece in @rahulbot.bsky.social story: data music, something that helps to "feel" the data. The example brought forward is around climate change - talking about it can be hard, can we facilitate this, somehow? #csvconf #csvconfv9
Embodying data usually makes people understand the data for the first time, says @rahulbot.bsky.social - This is not surprising, to me: everything that passes through the body and becomes flesh and energy suddenly can make a lot of sense!
#csvconf #csvconfv9
Data theatre: start from a dataset as a source material and devise a production, a play (hopefully I got that right!). The goal is then to perform it to create a data conversation in civic settings to engage people that otherwise would not show up during critical discussions. #csvconf #csvconfv9
Third piece by @rahulbot.bsky.social - data theatre: embody data to change how we relate to it. There is only this much we can use to encode information, and the visualization toolbox is, at some point, limited. The idea here is to push these limits. #csvconf #csvconfv9
What's the goal? Provoke, inform, share, educate, give space. People might not work to a table full of papers, but they will be curious about a table made of forks and knives!
