When they brought it back, it was vaguely ok, then Gardiner left, and it got slightly worse without the harsh judge figure. Then it was restricted to a 90-minute timeslot, which isn't enough with the adverts. So they got rid of the background... #DancingOnIce

Changes can be made to give this show new life, but they won't be, because ITV know they don't get enough out of it to justify putting any more in than they already do. Arguably, they axed it too early in the first place, and could have gone on with the show as it was then. #DancingOnIce

I'm not against the show continuing and will watch it until it does go. I have seen the reports of a decision not yet being made, and that is understandable. My idea in this instance would be, given that it would be the 20th anniversary, one final all-stars series, then get rid. #DancingOnIce

The judges have been introduced more, and the theme tune has been slightly altered. There is a long way to go before this gets to a point where its worth keeping though, and ITV probably will not make the changes necessary for the show to grow. So it's in a perpetual death spiral. #DancingOnIce

This would open it up for another female dancer, maybe give a permanent slot to Arlene Philips who guest judged a few years ago.
As for the show itself, a few small steps in the right direction were made this year. There have been more intros where we see the couples together... #DancingOnIce

Ashley is ok but I would rather have a Jason Gardiner-like harsh figure on the panel, and I'm not sure who that would be. Can't be Gardiner himself, too controversial given his political views. I still miss Nicky Slater on the skating side, and Robin Cousins would be a good option. #DancingOnIce

I don't mind Stephen & Holly as hosts that much, and I think debates over them distract from the real problem, which is the format and the judges. I like Oti, but the other 3 need to go. Jane & Chris should be back in the support roles they had in the original series. #DancingOnIce

On a format point, I enjoyed the differences in theme weeks (though still feel we don't need both movies and musicals, they tread on each other's toes too much). I think we need more format twists, such as the duel, though I've said that for multiple years now. #DancingOnIce
